What’s included with the free Receipt Tracker app?

The Shoeboxed Receipt Tracker comes with our forever free DIY Plan and your own secure online account, accessible from www.shoeboxed.com. The free DIY Plan allows you to submit five receipts a month for premium processing by a member of our team. To submit more than five receipts, you can either process these receipts yourself in your online account or upgrade to a Premium Plan.

What happens to my submitted receipt?

Any receipt submitted for processing goes through our special data extraction process, where the important information (vendor, total, date, payment type) is extracted and then verified by a team member to ensure the highest possible accuracy. This normally takes under one hour but can vary depending on weekends and holidays. The processed receipt data is then categorized and available on your phone and in your online account. Magical, isn’t it?

Is Shoeboxed more than a mobile app?

You bet! Shoeboxed will scan and process receipts from anywhere. Send them to us in our prepaid envelopes, capture receipts in your browser with our Web Clipper, or drag and drop receipts from your computer with our Desktop Uploader. You can even forward eReceipts to receipts@shoeboxed.com. Shoeboxed is everywhere your receipts are!

Is Shoeboxed safe?

Very. Security is Shoeboxed’s top priority, and we use the same SSL encryption used by major banks worldwide. Furthermore, all of our data is backed up on multiple servers around the country, and our entire service has been certified by TRUSTe, the trusted leader in online privacy and security.

My receipt is marked with a red “DIY” – What’s wrong?

Don’t worry, nothing is wrong and your receipt is not lost. This message simply means that you’ve already submitted five receipts for premium processing this month and your receipt has been added to your DIY queue for self processing at your convenience. Why aren’t my receipts available immediately?

Any receipt submitted for processing is verified personally by a member of our team to ensure the highest possible accuracy. We’ve found that human verification is the only way to ensure that wrinkled, faded and damaged receipts are accurately processed. This process normally takes under one hour but can vary depending on weekends and holidays.

Can I use Shoeboxed from anywhere in the world?

We’d recommend trying our free Desktop Uploader, available for Mac and Windows users. Simply drag and drop anything into the uploader that you would like stored in your Shoeboxed account forever.

What’s the difference between your DIY Plan and your Premium Plans?

Shoeboxed offers two different types of plans, depending on your needs.

Our forever free DIY Plan includes unlimited document storage, access to all of our add-ons, and allows you to submit five receipts a month for data extraction by a member of our team. Any additional submissions are welcome, but must be self processed by you at your own convenience.

For users who would like (or need) to submit up to 1,000 documents a month for premium processing we offer four Premium Plans that begin at $9.95/mo. How can I use Shoeboxed on the go?

Capturing receipts when you’re out and about is easy with Shoeboxed Mobile. If you have an iPhone or Android, simply download our free Shoeboxed Receipt Tracker and you’re all set.

If you have a BlackBerry, Windows Phone, or any other camera-enabled phone, you can still capture receipts with ease. Simply snap a picture of your any receipt and forward it to receipts@shoeboxed.com. It’s that easy!

Yes. Scanned receipts stored in Shoeboxed are accepted by United States, Australian and Canadian tax authorities. In fact, we’ve had users report to us that Shoeboxed was a lifesaver during their audit!

Where is Shoeboxed located?

Shoeboxed is headquartered in sunny Durham, North Carolina but also has offices in San Francisco, California and Sydney, Australia. All document scanning takes place locally in either our Durham or Sydney office.
