With our Classic and Business plans, we actually send you secure pre-paid envelopes that you can use to send documents to us in the US or Australia. Yes, you can use Shoeboxed from anywhere in the world! At this time, we have two processing facilities, one in Durham, North Carolina and one in Sydney, Australia. Thus, our postage-paid business reply envelopes are currently only for use within the US and Australia. Outside of these two countries, you will need to provide your own packaging and postage to ship documents to Shoeboxed, but we will cover all shipping expenses to return the documents to you assuming that this is provided for by your plan. Shoeboxed Mobile, included with all plans, is a great feature for international use if mailing documents abroad is not feasible for you.

Yes, the IRS as well as other international tax organizations like ATO and CRA accept digital (scanned) receipts for taxes and audits. In the US, the IRS has been accepting digital receipts since at least 1997 under certain conditions, all of which are met by Shoeboxed. In order to be usable for your taxes, your receipts must be legible, must link back to other purchasing references, like credit card spending, and they must be submitted to the IRS within the accepted time frame typical for all receipts.
